Section 01

Responsible entity, scope and effective date

This Privacy Policy applies to the Khmer Courtyard Android application, version 1.0.0, made available under the responsibility of CAMBODIAN ASSOCIATION CHRISTCHURCH INCORPORATED. It explains the privacy behaviour of the installed app and is effective from 10 August 2026. The policy does not govern separate services, websites, venue systems or organiser records that may have their own practices.

Section 02

Intended audience and responsible-adult boundary

Khmer Courtyard is a general community-gathering companion for adult hosts, facilitators, parents, guardians and participants using a shared space. A child or young person should use it only with the knowledge and oversight of a parent, guardian or other authorised responsible adult. The app is not a child account, youth programme, attendance tool, consent system or substitute for an organisation's safeguarding process.

Section 03

Purpose and main functions

The app provides offline editorial prompts for welcoming people, listening to stories, considering heritage with care, arranging shared-table flow, improving access and readiness, and closing a gathering responsibly. Interactive marks, selected scenes, compass positions and lantern facets are temporary aids for the current session. The app is not an official calendar, booking service, programme register, religious authority, emergency service or venue map.

Section 04

Data collected, transmitted and not collected

The app does not collect or transmit personal data to the responsible entity or any server. It has no network connection and does not request a person's name, email address, telephone number, date of birth, precise location, photograph, voice, contact list, device identifier, payment information or response to a story prompt. No personal data is sold, rented or used for advertising.

Section 05

On-device preferences and temporary session state

The app may keep four simple interface preferences on the device: whether the introduction has been completed, the last courtyard gate opened, the selected reading-size setting and the reduced-motion setting. Checklist marks and other activity selections remain only in memory for the current app session and are not written to a profile or transmitted. These interface preferences are not intended to identify a person.

Section 06

Sensitive information, youth records and free-text notes

Khmer Courtyard has no free-text field and is not designed to hold health information, disability details, dietary records, religious beliefs, immigration information, family histories, incident reports, safeguarding records, attendance, consent, membership or youth profiles. Users should not attempt to use screenshots, device labels or another workaround to turn the app into a record system. Sensitive matters must be handled through an authorised human process appropriate to the situation.

Section 07

Permissions and device access

The app requests no Android runtime permissions. It does not access the internet, camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, notifications, nearby devices, advertising identifier or shared media library. Images, written content and the policy are packaged inside the installed application.

Section 08

Accounts, sign-in and account deletion

The app has no account, login, membership credential, cloud profile or server-side user record. Account deletion therefore does not apply. Removing local interface preferences is available through Reset local app choices inside About & Controls, and uninstalling the app removes its local app storage through the Android operating system.

Section 09

Advertising, analytics, tracking and third-party SDKs

Khmer Courtyard contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, attribution SDK, crash-reporting SDK, social-media SDK, behavioural tracker, telemetry service or remote configuration service. It does not create an advertising profile, measure activity for marketing or show targeted advertising. The app relies only on Android platform components needed to display its packaged offline content.

Section 10

Sharing, disclosure, sale and third parties

Because the app does not collect or transmit personal data, it does not share app-entered personal data with the responsible entity, service providers, advertisers, data brokers or other third parties. A user's separate conversation with a real organiser, food provider, venue, emergency service or other person occurs outside the app and is governed by that party's process.

Section 11

Network behaviour, external links, contact and export

All app screens work offline. The app does not open web pages, send email, submit forms, upload files, export activity results, make calls or silently connect to a remote service. Source names and public web addresses may be displayed as readable references, but they are not contacted by the app. Users independently decide whether to visit an external source outside the app.

Section 12

Retention

Temporary activity selections last only while the app process remains active and can disappear when the app is closed, restarted or cleared by the operating system. The four interface preferences described in Section 5 remain on the device until the user resets the app, clears app storage or uninstalls it. The responsible entity does not receive or retain a server copy from this app.

Section 13

Deletion, backup, restore and device transfer

Users can erase local interface preferences with Reset local app choices, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. Android backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for Khmer Courtyard, so the app does not intentionally place its preferences in an Android cloud backup or transfer them to a new device. Temporary activity selections have no export or recovery function.

Section 14

Security measures and limits

The app reduces privacy exposure by operating without network access, accounts, personal-input fields, dangerous permissions or third-party tracking code, and by keeping activity selections temporary. Normal device protections still matter: anyone who can unlock the device may be able to see the current screen or local interface settings. No software or device can guarantee absolute security.

Section 15

Children, families and safeguarding

The app does not knowingly collect children's personal data and does not provide chat, public profiles, follower features, location sharing, attendance tracking or direct adult-to-child messaging. Parents, guardians and authorised organisations retain responsibility for consent, supervision, age-appropriate activities and safeguarding. Welfare or safety concerns must be handled through the responsible organisation's real process and appropriate public services, not recorded in this app.

Section 16

Cultural, religious, food, accessibility and safety limits

The app offers general editorial prompts and does not provide authoritative Cambodian cultural or Buddhist religious instruction. Actual hosts determine appropriate etiquette, use of space, objects, photography and gathering practices. Food prompts are not legal, allergy or professional food-safety advice; organisers must follow current New Zealand Food Safety and local requirements. Accessibility and emergency-readiness prompts do not guarantee a facility or replace qualified advice, Civil Defence, emergency services or an urgent response.

Section 17

Policy changes and user choices

A future app release may update this policy if app behaviour, legal requirements or responsible-entity practices change. A material change should be reflected in the in-app policy and the public policy page with a revised effective date. Users may stop using the app at any time and can reset local choices or uninstall it. Continued use of a later version is subject to the policy included with that version.

Section 18

Privacy contact

Privacy questions about Khmer Courtyard may be sent by post to CAMBODIAN ASSOCIATION CHRISTCHURCH INCORPORATED, 889 Springs Road, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand. No publisher-controlled privacy email address has been supplied for this release, so the app and policy do not invent one. Urgent safety matters should be directed to the appropriate organiser or emergency service rather than this postal privacy contact.
